Kim Kardashian Walks Back Apology to Jeffree Star

"I really wanted to apologize to you guys and my fans for defending a situation yesterday that I really didn’t know enough about,” she said in a snapchat on Tuesday.

Kim Kardashian-West walked back previous statements she made defending controversial beauty blogger Jeffree Star.

Star was bombarded by angry Kardashian fans on Monday after he criticized the swatches of her new powder contour kit via Twitter. Fans were quick to point out that Star had made racist comments in some of his past videos.

Star made headlines in June after years-old videos of him uttering the N-word came to light.

Kardashian came to his defense, posting a snapchat telling the haters to "get off his a--" and stop being "petty.

“I get it’s a serious deal if you say racial things but I do believe in people changing. People that apologize, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and accept that people change and move on,” she said, adding that she personally hated when people brought up her past mistakes.

“There's room for all of us,” she concluded. ”Love you, Jeffree!"

Before long, Kardashian began receiving backlash from her followers, prompting her to post a follow up snapchat on Tuesday.

“So I really wanted to apologize to you guys and my fans for defending a situation yesterday that I really didn’t know enough about,” she said.

“I just feel a bit naïve, and I do want to really apologize for me feeling like I had the right to say ‘get over it’ in a situation that involves racism.”

As the mother of interracial children, Kardashian has been vocal about racial issues before. Despite retracting most of her statements from Monday, she did stand by her belief that people could change for the better.

“I do believe that people are born to love and born with love, and they are taught to hate,” she said. “So I always have hopes that people can change and that people can learn to be better and do better, and learn to find that love again. So never give up hope.”
