Pharrell Joins Ellen to Discuss Kim Burrell Anti-Gay Controversy

"There's no space... no room... for any type of prejudice in 2017," Williams said.

Pharrell Williams joined the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" Thursday following an uproar earlier in the week that led to a canceled appearance by Grammy-nominated gospel singer Kim Burrell.

Burrell was scheduled to appear to sing a duet with Williams, with whom she recorded a song for the soundtrack of "Hidden Figures" — the new movie about a black woman's role in the early days of the U.S. space program.

Her appearance was canceled Tuesday after a video of her delivering a sermon in which she called gays and lesbians "perverted" went viral, NBC News reported.

"That perverted homosexual spirit is a spirit of delusion and confusion and has deceived many men and women, and it's caused a strain on the body of Christ," Burrell, a pastor at Love and Liberty Fellowship Church, in Houston, Texas, said in the sermon, which surfaced on YouTube Friday.

As rumors swirled earlier in the day, Ellen DeGeneres took to Twitter to clarify: "For those asking, Kim Burrell will not be appearing on my show."

"There's no space..no room..for any type of prejudice in 2017," Williams said. "She's a fantastic singer and I love her just like I love everybody else. But we all have to get use to everyone's differences and understand this is a big gigantic beautiful colorful world and it only works with inclusion and empathy."
