Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities

Cirque du Soleil's blue and yellow tent has been set up at Suffolk Downs for weeks now, but time is running out to catch the acrobats in action.

"Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities" is a visually enthralling show incorporating 5,000 steampunk costume pieces, hundreds of props, and a talented team of performers for an unforgettable experience.

One element that makes this show stand out is the AcroNet, a first for Cirque du Soleil. It's a cross between a trapeze net and a trampoline.

"Nothing like this has ever been really tried before," said Ryan Murray, who has been touring with "Kurios" for its two-year run. He is part of the team that worked on developing tricks for the AcroNet.

"If you jump on it by yourself in the net, you're not going to get more than six feet high. But if you really want to get up to the 40-foot maximum that we do, we need to all work together in perfect timing," Murray said.

The technology gives the acrobats freedom to go higher and do more flips and twists, allowing audiences to escape to a fantasy recreation of the 19th century.

"If you've seen Cirque in the past, this will totally defy your expectations," said Murray.

"Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities" is at Suffolk Downs through Sunday, July 10. For ticket information, click here.
