A Massachusetts contractor says the owner of a now-closed Seekonk spa never paid her bills after getting her hardwood floors fixed.

Shirley Miller told affiliate WJAR that Tranquil Waters Spa owner June Ferreira still owes $3,100. She said she received a check from Ferreira, but the bank has not cleared it and Ferreira has been out of contact.

Ferreira shut down multiple businesses she owns this week, including Tranquil Waters.

Customers told WJAR they recently paid for gift certificates and were never told if the spa would redeem the money spent.

Ferreira responded to requests for comment via a text message saying the bank refused to work with her, customers who purchased gift cards were not charged and she’s devastated to lose her businesses.
