2 Dead in Boston, Suspect Shot by Police

Two people were killed in Boston on Friday night, and the suspect was hospitalized after being shot by police.

Police Commissioner William Evans said police responded to the Macallen Building, an 11th floor luxury condominium on Dorchester Avenue in South Boston, and were confronted by a man with a gun. Authorities later identified that man as Bampumim Teixeira, 30, of Chelsea.

Police said Teixeira shot at officers, and one officer fired back two to three times.

Teixeira was hit and was taken into custody. Police said no officers were struck by gun fire but several were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

During a protective sweep of the condo, police found a man and woman, both in their 50s, suffering from "traumatic injuries". Both victims, who have not been identified, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police are not saying how they died.

Evans said he believes Teixeira knows the deceased.

Police said charges against Teixeira are forthcoming. He is expected to be arraigned Monday in South Boston District Court.
