The crew at Fresh Food Generation has a mission to bring affordable food to Boston's underserved communities.

Co-owner Jackson Renshaw said the truck started in 2012 as part of CommonWealth Kitchen, a non-profit collaborative kitchen in Dorchester that helps food entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground.

Renshaw said the menu is designed around Caribbean-American food.

"It's really to be a universal-style food," said Renshaw. "Everyone's familiar with rice, meat and vegetables, so we tried to make something that was accomodating to everybody."

The menu revolves around rice plates, which choices of main and side items like jerk chicken, plantains, red bean stew and kale salad, among other options.

"People should try our truck out because the food's really, really tasty, but it also leaves you feeling light afterwards because we don't use overly-processed food or overly-processed ingredients," said Renshaw.
