The Dining Car was one of the first food trucks in Boston that was part of an effort to make widespread food trucks in the city a reality.
Owners David Harnik and Naomi Klein approached the city in 2010 as part of a coalition to get food trucks in the city.
"By 2011 the city worked really quickly and we have this food truck program that you see today," said Harnik.
Since then, The Dining Car has been rooted in a variety of sandwiches and foods that Harnik says are inspired from dishes around the world, such as the chicken on goat sandwich or the honey truffle goat cheese sandwich.
One of the most popular items is one of the most surprising.
"Of all things, we've become known for cauliflower," said Harnik. "So our crispy cauliflower with curry aioli is a big hit."
Harnik said that the close-knit community of food trucks and bringing great food to customers has been the best thing to come out of the food truck movement.
