Friends and Family Gathering to Remember Boy Who Inspired #WhyNotDevin

Friends and family are gathering to remember Devin Suau, who lost his battle with cancer on Friday.

The 6 year old inspired the social media campaign #WhyNotDevin, raising money and awareness for his rare form of cancer.

Devin's wake is today at Saint Anselm Church in Sudbury from 4-6 p.m.

His funeral service is Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., also at Saint Anselm Church, with burial following in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Devin's hometown of Framingham.

Many across New England and the nation mourned at the news of Devin's passing on Friday, including New England Patriots star Tom Brady.

"You know, I've been fortunate to meet a lot of courageous people over the years, and you know, it's a very tough situation," Brady said, getting choked up, while at a press conference. "I hope the family is doing OK."

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, who had declared Oct. 27 -- Devin's birthday -- "Devin Suau Day" last month, also joined the chorus of voices mourning his death.

"Devin captured the hearts of many, including mine," Walsh tweeted. "Keep the people in heaven safe, my friend."

Devin battled Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects roughly 300 children in the U.S. each year. He was diagnosed earlier this year following an incident where he fell while snowboarding. At first his family thought he was suffering from a concussion, but tests delivered the heartbreaking news that he had an inoperable brain tumor.
