    The 21st annual celebration of Immigration Day drew a crowd on Beacon Hill Wednesday morning. The event promotes lobbying lawmakers to take action on immigrant issues and reform. Estimates put the number of immigrants in Massachusetts alone at 1 million people. (Published Wednesday, April 5, 2017)

    The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition held its 21st annual Immigrants Day ceremony and rally at the Massachusetts State House on Wednesday.

    According to MIRA Coalition there was a speaking program from 10-11 a.m. with Somerville Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Senate President Stan Rosenberg, Representative Juana Matias, and Senator Jamie Eldridge.

    Many members of the immigrant and refugee community were present.

    Following the program, a rally took place across the street from the State House which hundreds were estimated to attend.
