In Quincy, Teenager Comes Face to Face With Burglar

A Quincy teenager describes a terrifying ordeal, jumping out of her bedroom window in the middle of the afternoon, after a burglar broke into her house while she was home alone.

17-year-old Jessica Huynh lives along Hilma Street with her family.

"I was home alone and someone came in. I thought he was my brother so I didn't do anything, but I thought it was a bit weird for him to go through the stuff so much so I locked my door just in case," said Huynh.

The burglar jiggled Jessica's bedroom door handle, but couldn't open it.

What happened next is terrifying. "He kicked the door in and saw me, and dashed into the kitchen," she said.

But Huynh was still afraid she'd get hurt.

"I heard more noises and I thought he was going for a knife so I opened the window and just jumped out." She fell onto the ground, ran down the street, and called 911.

The burglar ran out the back porch. Police searched the neighborhood, but couldn't find him. Investigators believe the burglar may have broken in through the bulkhead, which is now secured.

Huynh says she's now afraid to be home alone. Police say the burglar didn't get away with anything. On Friday, he is still on the loose.
