New Hampshire Soldier Killed in Florida Crash

A soldier from New Hampshire has died from injuries sustained in a car crash in Florida last week, according to officials with the United States Army.

Spc. Robert L. Gagnon Jr., 25, of Exeter, was traveling on Interstate 10 on Sept. 17 when he somehow got into a head-on collision with another driver.

Both Gagnon and the driver of the second vehicle were killed.

Army officials said Gagnon entered active duty military service on Oct. 8, 2013. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Military Occupation Specialty Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Gagnon was assigned to Group Support Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida as a motor transport operator.

Gagnon received a number of awards and decorations including the U.S. Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Parachutist Badge and Army Marksman Badge.

It's unclear when funeral services will be.
