Woman Suffers Facial Burns in Methuen House Fire

A fire destroyed a home in Methuen, Massachusetts, on Wednesday night, sending at least one woman to the hospital.

Officials said the fire started at about 8:30 p.m. and quickly tore through all three floors of the home on Broadway.

The seven people who live in three apartments at the home were able to escape, but one woman had to be taken to an area hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and for burns to her face.

Two neighbors also needed to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Area residents were being urged to avoid Broadway and High Street while firefighters worked to contain hotspots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents with a place to stay.
