Police Chief Waives Right to Probable Cause Hearing

John LaRoche is accused of pressuring an underage teen to perform a sex act on him more than 10 years ago

A Canterbury, New Hampshire, police chief accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl has waived his right to a probable cause hearing.

The Concord Monitor reports
44-year-old John LaRoche on Tuesday waived his right to the hearing, in which a judge determines whether enough evidence exists for the case to go to trial.

LaRoche is accused of pressuring an underage teen to perform a sex act on him more than 10 years ago while he was a police officer in Boscawen.

He has pleaded not guilty to aggravated felonious sexual assault and was released on $5,000 bail.

The charges are set to move to Merrimack County superior Court.
