Police say a man shot and killed in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood on Saturday appeared to be clearly targeted by the gunman.
The death marks the city's 14th homicide this year - putting the city four ahead of last year's total at this time.
Just after 5:30 p.m., police said they responded to a call for a person shot on Frazer Street. Upon arrival, officers located a man who appeared to be in his late twenties suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.
“We're way ahead of last year, and obviously that's troubling,” Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said of the number of fatal shootings in the city already this year.
Police said Sunday morning that the shooter ran up to the passenger side of the car and shot the victim point blank.
No arrests have been made, and the shooting remains under investigation.
