Police Investigate Threatening Letters Left on Doorstep of Natick Home

Letters at home were found two days in a row

Threatening letters left on a resident’s doorstep are being investigated as a possible hate crime in Natick, Massachusetts.

Police said the first handwritten letter was allegedly found on the doorstep of a male resident at 10 a.m. Thursday.

"Do not bring n*****s in our neighborhood," it read. "We will kill them."

On Friday at 7 p.m., the resident notified police when a second typed letter was found.

"Natick has a zero tolerance for black people," read the second letter. "We have reclaimed our country back by selecting Trump and you are now messing up everything."

Police believe the notes refer to the homeowner's roommate, who is African-American.

"This kind of behavior is not indicative of the values of the town of Natick and will not be tolerated in our community," Natick Police Chief James Hicks said. "The department is taking this case very seriously and we will investigate to our fullest capabilities to ensure the safety and security of our residents."

Residents say the letters are not representative of the community, and they want to know who's behind them.

"I was really shocked when I heard this," said neighbor Heidi Manago. "None of us could imagine anyone from this street doing that."

"This is not what we are teaching our children, and not how they look at the world and not how we look at the world," added neighbor Dawn Sullivan. "We are so sad this has happened to this gentleman."

Anyone with information regarding the letters is asked to contact the Natick Police Department at 508-647-9500.
