A man was badly injured after he was hit by a car Monday morning in Watertown, Massachusetts.
The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office says the victim, a 50-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.
A preliminary investigation reveals the man was crossing Watertown Street near Aldrich Road at 8:30 a.m., when he was hit by a silver SUV.
The female driver stopped. She was taken to the hospital for a stress-related medical issue.
Traffic was heavy at the time, but its unknown exactly how fast the driver was traveling.
State Police are on scene to reconstruct the collision. A portion of Watertown Street, which is Route 16, remains closed and will be for a few hours. Debris from the crash and the vehicle involved remain at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
