A fatal wrong-way crash in Hopkinton, Massachusetts caused major delays on Interstate 495 northbound on Friday morning.
Massachusetts State Police said a 2015 Nissan Altima crashed into a 2006 Honda pickup truck right before the Massachusetts Turnpike at Exit 22 around 5:40 a.m. Police said the wrong-way driver crashed into the other car head-on.
The wrong-way driver, an adult woman, was declared dead at the scene.
The surviving victim, a male, was taken to UMass Hospital in Worcester with serious injuries.
No further information about the victims was immediately available.
All three lanes northbound were shut down as a result of the crash and were reopened around 8 a.m.
Police said the accident remains under investigation.

This is the first fatal wrong-way crash in the state since November. NBC Boston's Investigators have been looking at the staggering number of such crashes on our highways since January.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation does not track wrong-way crashes on interstates or state highways that work like interstates. But NBC Boston's Investigators dug into the data and revealed that at least 23 people have been killed since 2011, and at least 112 have been injured.
After this initial report, MassDOT officials visited Rhode Island to review that state's system of sensors, warnings and flashing lights.
Lawmakers also put forth an emergency bill to do something to prevent wrong-way crashes. But so far, that bill has been sitting in committee for eight months.
