Shots Fired at Carnival in Movie Theater Parking Lot in Revere, Mass.

Witnesses say the shootings happened just before 9 p.m.

Shots fired at empty cars at the Showcase Cinemas in Revere, Massachusetts, sent panic and chaos through the crowded theater and nearby carnival Sunday night.

Witnesses say the shootings happened just before 9 p.m.

"Couple loud bangs and everyone's screaming running out of the entrance," said John Crisafulli. "It was crazy."

A carnival was open for its last night in the parking lot of the movie theater when the commotion started.

About four cars had their windows shot out at two separate locations of the theater off Squire Road.

Massachusetts State Police say no one was injured.

Marwane Saye said was inside the Theater 4 watching "The Fate of the Furious" with his father and younger brother when they heard the gunfire.

"We heard them and then everyone started screaming," said Saye, 16, who spoke with his father standing next to him. "They started dropping on the floor and then everyone got so so scared and then for a minute they told us to clear out. Police started taking us out."

Revere Police officers were walking through the parking lot with long guns in hand as investigators searched for the shooter inside the theater.

"We didn't hear anything. We just saw the lights go on and that was it," said Brianna Anderson. "We couldn't figure out why."

Groups of people, including small children, were walking out of the theater with their hands in the air after being patted down by police.

"They were saying to keep our hands up and walk out slowly," said Diego Valle. "We were being inspected by an officer and they just made us get out."

Police are still searching for the person or people involved in the shooting.
