Student Charged With Bringing Bullets to Hull School

A Massachusetts student is facing charges after police say he brought bullets to his Hull school Thursday morning.

The 17-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of ammunition. The teen has not been identified because he is a juvenile.

Police said another student in Hull High School’s Satellite Program, which operates in an area of Jacobs Elementary School, told the principal that the teen showed him a picture of bullets.

The principal notified the school resource officer who located the teen and searched him. Police said the teen was in possession of three .32 caliber bullets.

Authorities then contacted police who conducted a search of his locker and home. No additional ammunition or firearms were found.

Police said they do not have reason to believe there is any danger to the public.

"We want parents and residents to rest assured that there is no danger to the community," said Acting Hull Police Chief Neil Reilly. "We always stress the importance of 'see something, say something' and the student did the right thing by doing exactly that."

"The safety and security of our students is a priority for the district and we commend the student for recognizing the seriousness of this situation and reporting it to the administration," added Hull Superintendent Michael Devine

The teen was taken to an area hospital for a medical evaluation. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Hingham District Court at later date.
