Symphony 8 in Boston Still Planning to Reopen

A long-closed watering hole near Symphony Hall that once included a speakeasy is still looking to open back up again.

Universal Hub is reporting that Symphony 8 on Westland Avenue could be reopening in a few months, nearly four years after closing its doors. The post mentions that owner Douglas Bacon said to the Boston Licensing Board that renovations on the space are more difficult than he had hoped, and that he continues to pay rent on the space even as upgrades are being done. If all goes well, Symphony 8 could open by July 15--though this also depends on whether the city allows him to keep his long-dormant liquor license for the space.

Symphony 8 first opened in the fall of 2009, featuring a mix of modern American fare and comfort food; the place also had a hidden basement bar called Prohibited where a password was needed in order to get into place.

The address for the Symphony 8 space is 8 Westland Avenue, Boston, MA, 02115.
