Taco Bell Cantina Eyeing Boston Expansion, May Be Looking at Somerville's Davis Square

A new concept from a fast-food chain is apparently looking at the Boston area, and it might be eyeing one of the busiest parts of Somerville.

According to a post within the Davis Square LiveJournal blog, Taco Bell Cantina has expressed interest in the former iYO Cafe/Bistro space on Elm Street, mentioning  that "Ward 6 Alderman Lance Davis said that Taco Bell has expressed interest in this location" for the new concept. This seems to jibe with an early article from the Kansas City Business Journal, which said back in October that the company was considering a possible expansion of Taco Bell Cantina to Boston.

Based on the other four locations in Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas, and San Francisco, any new Taco Bell  Cantinas that come to Boston (or Somerville) could include a tapas-style menu of shareable plates along with beer, wine, and liquor.

The address that Taco Bell Cantina is looking at is 234 Elm Street, Somerville, MA, 02144.
