Teen Shot to Death in Somerville, Massachusetts

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Officers arrived to 14 Farragut Ave. at about 5 p.m. Tuesday where police said a 16-year-old boy was shot once.

The boy was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, the victim was in the home with other people who were known to him and that the shooting was not random.

Several teenagers who said they were friends of the victim, stopped by the home once they got word of the shooting. They told NBC Boston that the teen played basketball in middle school and was a "good guy".

"I always thought of him as a good guy," said one friend. "I know he got into some things you wouldn't think a good guy would do but as I knew him, he was always friendly."

Neighbors said they were shocked to hear of the shooting.

"I do dog walks around here everyday. It's really shocking," said neighbor Alisa Patterson. "It makes me not want to come back around here."

The victim's identity has not yet been revealed, but police said he was from Malden.

No arrests have been made.

The shooting is under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police and Somerville Police.
