Water Main Break Floods Part of Lynn, Mass. Neighborhood

A water main break flooded two streets in Lynn, Massachusetts, on Sunday morning, one week after torrential downpours left parts of the city underwater.

The main break, which residents said happened Saturday night, sent water gushing down Orchard and Bennett streets, where homeowners are still cleaning up from flash flooding on Aug. 12.

“We’re still suffering from the last rain storm that we all got flooded out,” said resident Richard Russo. “No hot water. Half our furniture, half our stuff is gone.”

City officials said the main break knocked out water service to several homes.

“I’ve got water in my cellar, I’ve got water that goes up to my driveway and my back yard,” said resident John Taylor. “I just dried out from last week’s storm.

It’s unclear when the broken main will be fixed.
