A water main break in Boston caused a mess for emergency crews and commuters on Sunday.
The break happened near Dorchester Avenue and West Broadway around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
Water was causing the road to buckle, and it was draining into an adjacent construction site and the MBTA Broadway station.
The MBTA sent out several alerts on Twitter notifying commuters that two escalators and two elevators, from the lobby to street and platform to lobby, were unavailable due to the water main break.
"We had several concerns. One was the water going down into the third row of the redline, we had tons of water flowing down every level," Fire Chief Mark Buchanan said. "Also we have a huge construction site behind us that has several feet of water. There's a crane above it that's not attached to the building. We're concerned with it being undermined."
Crews were focused on shutting off the four water valves.
The water main break caused extensive damage, and there was no immediate word on how long clean-up could take.
