Chelsea Manning Shares First Photo of Herself After Prison

"Okay, so here I am everyone!! :P" she wrote

Army Pvt. Chelsea Manning has shared a photo of herself on social media a day after her release from prison after seven years.

Manning posted the photo of herself to Instagram and Twitter Thursday, with the caption, "Okay, so here I am everyone!! :P"

Manning transitioned from male to female while she was in prison for giving classified materials to the website WikiLeaks. Sentenced to 35 years in prison, she was released nearly three decades early due to a commutation from President Barack Obama in January.

She walked out of prison Wednesday morning, and later posted pictures of her shoes, a piece of pizza she was about to eat and a bottle of champagne she was sharing with a few others. But the photo posted Thursday is the first where the camera is turned on her.

"I am looking forward to so much! Whatever is ahead of me is far more important than the past," Manning, 29, told The Associated Press after her release from confinement in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
