Less humid, partly cloudy. Lows in the 50s and 60s.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy is making for a wet and muggy start to the weekend. Heavy downpours with embedded thunder and strong wind gusts will traverse southern New England with localized flooding possible under the heaviest bands of rain through the morning hours.

Some locations could receive 1-2” per hour rainfall rates in Rhode Island and southeaster Massachusetts. This tropical moisture will be swiftly pushed out by a cool front that will usher in the relief from the heat and the humidity by midday.

We’ll see a gradual clearing of the skies with sunshine returning by mid-afternoon. Highs today will stretch into the mid to upper 80s south, near 80 north.

There’s still a slight chance for coastal flooding associated with the astronomically high tides, so be mindful of that if you are by the water. Overnight, temperatures will slide into the mid to upper 50s north, near 60 south under a starlit sky, making for a great night to turn off the AC and open the windows considering the humidity will be swept out as well.

Sunday is the pick of the weekend with highs into the lower 80s, lower humidity and a chance for a few pop-up storms for northwestern New England by the afternoon as a weak disturbance slides in.

A refreshing cool down to start off the week with highs into the upper 70s through Wednesday before storm chances increase for Thursday and Friday.

The holiday weekend before July 4 (can you believe it’s almost here?!) brings chances for storms, but as of right now, it does not look like a washout, just a typical summertime set-up.
