It would be nearly impossible to transition from the dry air of Thursday to the new tropical air moving in, without having some rain in between.

Sure enough, rain will fall for all of New England today, varying in intensity from steady in the morning, to showers by mid-afternoon, then downpours and embedded thunder in the evening.

Friday night plans will need to include the umbrella and/or rain jacket, and super-muggy air will be in place all night, meaning areas of fog and some condensation on the house windows!

Very humid, tropical air remains in place Saturday, and that will mean a deck of gray clouds and even a lingering shower in the morning, then breaks of sun bubble up puffy clouds in the humidity, yielding a few scattered thunderstorms Saturday afternoon as high temperature soar into the 80s with heat index values around 90°.

Weather Forecast: Cloudy With Scattered Showers

Tomorrow (Saturday): Mostly cloudy with a few scattered showers. Muggy with highs into the mid 80s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, beautiful and less humid. Highs into the low to mid 80s.

A cold front passes through Saturday evening and night, ushering in some really comfortable air Sunday…though warmth will continue with highs back into the 80s, just much less humidity.

Unlike recent bouts of dry air that also have been cool, no cooling is anticipated early next week – instead, New England will rise to around 90 degrees Monday and Tuesday, with great viewing of our partial eclipse at 2:46 PM Monday, ahead of a well-defined midweek cold front that not only raises the chance of thunderstorms Wednesday, but also delivers a shot of cooler and pleasant air for the end of next week into next weekend in our exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
