Summer Comes to A Close

Big milestone today in the city. Heat surged ahead of a cold front and pushed us to a record-tying 90 degrees! What's more is the fact that this is the third day in a row of 90 or better in the city, officially making it a heatwave! There have only been three other May heatwaves in Boston:

1929

1931

2001

It's been 16 long years, but I'm sure we won't be waiting that long for the next one.

In the meantime, we have the cooler air coming in from the north. Gusty winds are trying to stomp out the heat, but it has been reluctant to move out this evening. That buys us a few balmy hours, but beware. After midnight rolls around, you may want to think of closing the windows. Chill will settle in overnight as we head to the 50s by morning.

Cooler air dominates the weekend, but so does sun. Tons of it both days. Highs in the 60s at the coast, near 70 elsewhere. Lots of activities this weekend - proms, graduations, outdoor events. Have at 'em!

Next week isn't so lovely. Showers come in as early as Sunday night and wash out Monday. Another storm system will tag us by midweek, sinking us back to near 60 again. We're hoping everything shakes out by the holiday weekend, but it's too early to tell.

Have a great weekend!
