Leominster mayor asks to pause maternity ward closure amid floods

Community and union leaders protested outside of UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital’s Leominster Hospital Tuesday night over the proposed closure of the hospital’s maternity unit.

The mayor of Lemoninster has reaffirmed his calls to pause the closure of the maternity ward at UMass Memorial Health Alliance-Clinton Hospital Leominster Campus after flooding left the city in a state of emergency.

The maternity unit is set to close on Sept. 23.
