Bob Dylan Breaks Silence About Nobel Win: It ‘Left Me Speechless'

Musician Bob Dylan hadn't spoken publicly about his being awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, prompting one Nobel academy member to call the songwriter "impolite and arrogant."

But as NBC News reports, this week Dylan told Sara Danius, Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy, that he "appreciate[s] the honor so much."

Dylan, 75, is currently touring in the U.S. He'd kept quiet for about two weeks since his win was announced. But as he explained in this week's call with Danius, "the news about the Nobel Prize left me speechless."

"If it's at all possible," Dylan told The Telegraph newspaper, he "absolutely" wants to attend the award ceremony in Stockholm in December.
