After facing criticism, Harvard University's all-male Hasty Pudding theater group announced Thursday that it will allow women to audition for its productions beginning next year.

The announcement came on the same day that "That '70s Show" actress Mila Kunis was honored as Woman of the Year by Harvard's Hasty Pudding Theatricals.

Kunis gave her support to the change, saying "she wouldn't be here othewise," and that it was "something important to me."

The nation's oldest collegiate theatrical organization will be roasting the Ukraine-born actress later at its historic theater and bestowing on her a coveted pudding pot.

Kunis rode down Massachusetts Avenue in the back of a Bentley convertible flanked by students in outlandish wigs and dresses and a brass band. She later dined at Parsnip restaurant in the Square.

A handful of protesters held signs calling out the troupe for not allowing female performers. Some had even called on Kunis to reject her acceptance of the award to protest the exclusion of women.

Hasty Pudding is known for bawdy comedic revues that feature men in drag playing female characters, a longstanding tradition in the group, which says it was formed in 1795.

The theater group called Kunis one of Hollywood's "most sought after, vivacious, and engaging actresses." Kunis earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role in 2010's "Black Swan."
