Let the Love Flow: Trump Continues Praise for Kanye West, Chance the Rapper

Chance the Rapper fired back at the president saying he'd never support anyone 'who has made a career out of hatred, racism and discrimination'

What to Know

  • Trump said on "Fox and Friends" he knew the rapper "a little bit" and always got along with him
  • West recently said he and Trump share "dragon energy"

Lovefest 2018 between Donald Trump and BFF Kanye West shows no signs of slowing down as the commander in chief took to Twitter Friday to continue his praise of the rapper. Trump also took time to embrace Chance the Rapper, who earlier in the week said black people were under no obligation to vote Democrat.

West and Trump have been praising each other all week. On Thursday, Trump thanked West for having the "good taste" to support him after West called the president his "brother" and said they both have "dragon energy" flowing through their veins. West has also been seen sporting a Make America Great Again cap in recent days.

Trump said in an interview with "Fox & Friends" that he knew the rapper "a little bit" and always got along with him, and said that West has noticed the low unemployment rate for black Americans.

"He sees that stuff and he's smart and he says, 'you know what, Trump is doing a much better job than the Democrats did,'" the president said.

Following Trump's tweet Chance clarified his position Friday, saying he felt his words were now being used to "discredit my brothers and sisters in the movement and I can't sit by and let that happen either."

In a tweet Chance continued, "I'd never support anyone who has made a career out of hatred, racism and discrimination. I'd never support someone who'd talk about Chicago as if it's hell on Earth and then take steps to make life harder here for the most disenfranchised among us."
