"My kidneys were just done."

In September, the pop-star took posted a photo on Instagram revealing that she had gotten a kidney transplant over the summer, due to complications from Lupus.

“I guess I got to the point where it was really kind of life or death,” Gomez said in a clip that aired on “Today” on Friday. She has her friend and fellow actress, Francia Raísa, 29 to thank for her new kidney.

Gomez was wary in finding a donor after she learned she needed a transplant, but is grateful that Raísa stepped up and volunteered.

"My kidneys were just done. That was it and I didn't want to ask a single person in my life,” she said.
