Chester County '16 & Pregnant' Star Valerie Fairman Dies at 23

Police say call was for a 'possible overdose'

A young mother from Chester County, Pennsylvania, who starred in the MTV show "16 and Pregnant" has died after being found unconscious in a home.

The Chester County Coroner's Office confirmed that 23-year-old Valerie Fairman died around 5 p.m. Wednesday in Caln Township.

Officers responded to a home along S 5th Avenue to find Fairman unconscious from "possible overdose," said a news release from Coatesville Police. Fairman died a short time later at Brandywine Hospital.

The cause of death remained under investigation, said the coroner.

Fairman, who hailed from Oxford, Pennsylvania, appeared in the second season of the reality show in 2009-2010 when she gave birth to a daughter Nevaeh. [[238430011, C]]

She has battled some legal troubles in the years since TV fame including a 2015 prostitution arrest in Delaware and an arrest just last week on driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest and providing false identification charges, according to court records. She was ordered to inpatient drug or alcohol treatment earlier this year after a parole violation, court records show.

A woman who answered the phone at the address listed on court papers said the family did not want to comment Thursday on her death.

MTV officials said they are saddened by the news and extend their thoughts to her family. [[238904721, C]]
