‘Joy Luck Club' Actress to Discuss New Film at Asian American Film Festival

The Asian American Film Festival will be held from Thursday to Sunday

"Joy Luck Club" actress Tsai Chin will be in Cambridge, Massachusetts to discuss her latest film, "Lucky Grandma."

Chin will participate in a Q&A session Thursday at Boston’s Asian American Film Festival to discuss the film, which will be screened at the Brattle Theater in Harvard Square. 

The movie is a dark comedy about an older Chinese-American widow in the middle of a gang war, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.

The movie will be shown twice on Thursday night as a part of the BAAFF’s 11th festival. The Q&A and a reception will follow the 6:45 p.m. showing.

The festival will also features shorts, documentaries and other feature films about Asian American histories, cultures and stories. It will run from Thursday to Sunday.

Since starring as an older Lindo in "The Joy Luck Club," the 86-year-old actress has played roles in "Now You See Me 2," "Casino Royale,” and "Memoirs of a Geisha."
