Cheers to Allston Christmas: Harpoon Releases Moving Madness-Themed Beer

The new brew will be out on Aug. 28, according to Boston.com

To celebrate the annual madness of college move-in day around Boston known as "Allston Christmas," Harpoon Brewery is releasing an IPA to help welcome students.

The Allston X-Mas is a limited-release, according to Boston.com, made with citra, lotus, centennial and eureka hops. It will also have hints of citrus, mixed berry and black currant.

The new brew will be out on Aug. 28, just in time for the hyperlocal holiday — Allston Christmas falls on Sept. 1. Harpoon brewer Tom Graham told the website that "so many folks from the brewery" went through it themselves.

The brewery retweeted the the Boston.com story, but NBC10 Boston reached out to learn more about the beer.

The Allston Christmas name comes from the discarded furniture, home decor and trash that litter the sidewalk as college students arrive to Boston ahead of the new year.
