Friendly's Closes 5 New England Locations

Locations closed earlier this year in Massachusetts were in Bourne, Gloucester, Ludlow, South Hadley and Westfield.

After closing a handful of other locations this year, Friendly’s has announced they have closed six other restaurants in the Northeast, including five in New England.

MassLive reported restaurants were closed days ago in:

  • Seekonk, Massachusetts
  • Springfield, Massachusetts (Sumner Avenue)
  • Bennington, Vermont
  • Rutland, Vermont
  • Dover, New Hampshire
  • East Greenbush, New York

Other locations closed earlier this year in Massachusetts were in Bourne, Gloucester, Ludlow, South Hadley and Westfield.

Friendly's had 254 restaurants after emerging from federal bankruptcy protection in 2012, according to MassLive. The company, which was founded in 1935 in Springfield, Massachusetts, was purchased by Dallas-based Dean Foods Co. in 2016.

There are now 224 Friendly's locations across the United States, mainly in the Northeast.
