Bloody Marys and other brunch cocktails may be adding to drunken driving fatalities in the state.

Massachusetts is the sixth booziest brunch state, with the state having one of the highest percentage of drunken driving fatalities in the nation during the morning and early afternoon, according to a new study.

Insurance company QuoteWizard.com LLC used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Fatality Analysis Reporting System and looked at the total number of drunken driving fatalities that occurred from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in 2013 to 2017. Of the 343 driving fatalities Massachusetts reported in those hours over five years, 50 were drunken driving fatalities, or 14.57 percent.
