A Gloucester, Massachusetts, man was arrested on drug charges after he struck a pedestrian, causing life-threatening injuries.
Gloucester officials responded to the scene on Maplewood Avenue around 6:45 p.m.
The 38-year-old male victim had sustained significant injuries and head trauma. He was transported by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The motorist, Vincenzo Mannone, 27, was charged with operating under the influence of drugs and failure to keep right. He remained on scene after the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
