1 Arrested After Northbridge, Mass. Police Chase

Genesio Fernandes led police on a chase from Upton to Northbridge, Massachusetts

A suspect is in custody after allegedly leading police on a chase from Upton to Northbridge, Massachusetts.

Genesio Fernandes is being charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and operation with a suspended license.

According to police, the pursuit started Monday after the Fernandes sped away from an officer who asked for his identification. Northbridge police contacted police from Grafton, who also engaged in the pursuit.

Around 1:45 p.m., Fernandes allegedly rear-ended a Nissan pickup truck on Sutton Street in Northbridge. The driver of that vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Fernandes fled the scene of the crash on foot, said police.

Fernandes was arrested about two miles from the scene of the crash after a resident of Depot Street in Grafton saw him walking in the woods and, thinking the man looked suspicious, called the police.
