Person Dead After Being Struck by Commuter Train in Newton

A man in his 20s was fatally struck by a commuter rail train in Newton Wednesday.

The person was "trespassing" on track two when he was hit by the train, according to the MBTA.

The agency announced that the incident left an outbound train stopped at Newtonville while police investigated, leaving it up to 55 minutes behind schedule, as of 5:38 p.m.

Other outbound trains, headed to Framingham and Worcester, were expected to face delays of 30-40 minutes, MBTA said.

Transit police detectives are investigating, and foul play is not suspected according to the MBTA.
