Man Killed in Dorchester Shooting

A 35-year-old man was killed in an apparently targeted shooting in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood Friday morning, according to police.

The shooting occurred around 9:11 a.m. in the area of 120 Quincy Street.

The shot spotter at Wayland and Dacia streets - which detects gunfire - first alerted investigators to the shooting.

Police say the victim was shot in the chest here on Wayland and eventually collapsed at the other end of the street on this corner.

When they arrived at the scene, police said they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

A man in a red sweatshirt was seen running from the scene.

A short time after the shooting, another man showed up at a nearby gas station suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to a local hospital.

Police have not confirmed if the two shootings are related, although they are investigating that possibility.

Roads in the area were blocked off with crime scene tape and K-9 units were searching the neighborhood.

Boston police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact their Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
