12-Year-Old Flown to Hospital After Fall at Cotton Hollow Preserve in Glastonbury

A 12-year-old boy has serious injuries after falling off a cliff at Cotton Hollow Preserve in Glastonbury Monday, according to police.

Emergency crews responded at 12:40 p.m. and the boy was breathing, but not responding, Lt. Corey Davis, of Glastonbury Police, said.

The fire department extricated the boy from the woods and LifeStar flew him to Hartford Hospital.  It's estimated he fell about 25 feet and hit either rocks or water.

Police said the boy is from Glastonbury.

It's not clear how the boy fell and no additional information was immediately available on his condition.

Cotton Hollow Preserve is an 80-acre wooded property used for hiking, walking, swimming and fishing. The boy was with friends and a parent, according to police.

Over the years police have responded to a number of falls at the preserve.

“You’re at the mercy of nature out here and it is enjoyable if you can do it in a safe way. We would encourage people not to climb on the cliffs, not to jump off the cliffs and just be safe about it," Davis said.
