18-Year-Old Woman Killed in Rollover Crash in Freetown, Mass.

For reasons still under investigation, the driver's vehicle veered into the median

An 18-year-old woman was killed in a rollover crash Thursday that caused her to be ejected from the vehicle, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Authorities said the crash happened around 8:10 a.m. on Route 140 in Freetown. A preliminary investigation determined the woman was traveling northbound near Exit 8 when the 2003 Ford Escape she was operating veered into the median and rolled over.

The vehicle came to a stop in the breakdown lane, state police said. It is unclear what caused the woman to drive into the median.

The driver died at the scene. She was identified as 18-year-old Savannah Gonsalves, police said. She was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

An investigation remained underway.
