Two people accused of abandoning a small child while stealing a flat screen television from a Massachusetts Wal-Mart had not guilty pleas entered on their behalf Monday.
Lisa Degerolamo, and Daniel McLaughlin, both 29, were ordered to be held on $2,500 bail each in Falmouth District Court and comply with any Department of Children and Family conditions during their arraignment on larceny and reckless endangerment of a child charges; however, their attorneys say they would not be able to make bail.
In their haste to get away, Falmouth police say a 5-year-old child fell out of the vehicle his mother was driving. People at the Wal-Mart tried to intervene Sunday when they saw the child tumble out of the vehicle from the backseat, but police say Degerolamo was able to get him back in the SUV before she drove off.
However, police say someone was able to get a picture of the vehicle, which helped them track the couple to West Yarmouth, where they were arrested on Sunday night.
The child was with them, according to authorities, and he's okay. Massachusetts' Department of Children and Families is looking into the case.
Degerolamo and McLaughlin are due back in court on March 9.
