About 50 people were displaced Thursday in an apartment building in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Firefighters say the fire started on a third-floor porch and spread to the roof early in the morning.
Casey Kohut told the Union Leader that he, his fiancee, Heather Lee, and his daughter escaped the fire.
Lee and the child suffered from minor smoke inhalation. They were treated at a hospital and released later Thursday morning.
