2 Injured in Mass. National Guard Crash in Vermont

Two were injured in a Massachusetts National Guard convoy crash in Vermont Thursday morning.

Vermont State Police say it happened just before 10 a.m. near Royalton on I-89.

The last vehicle in the National Guard convoy of four vehicles was traveling south when the driver, identified as 24-year-old Steven Weiss, braked as traffic slowed in front of him, resulting in him losing control of the trailer behind the Humvee, according to state police.

The Humvee then struck the guard rails as the trailer rolled over, state police say.

I-89 was down to one lane for several hours as Weiss and a passenger, 23-year-old Augustin Boutelle of Massachusetts, were taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center to treat their non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
