2 Killed in Separate Crashes on I-95 in Attleboro

Two people are dead after separate crashes around the same time Monday night on Interstate 95 in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Around 9:45 p.m., state police said a man was found dead on I-95 southbound near Exit 1. Investigators believe he was on foot, and the vehicle that hit him did not stop.

The hit-and-run victim was only identified as a 50-year-old man. Authorities have not released his name since they are still working on locating his family to inform them of the death.

Abut 15 minutes later, a vehicle went off the road near Exit 5 northbound, rolling into the woods.

One person in that vehicle died, police said. Authorities believe the driver in the second incident veered to the left then slid across all travel lanes in an effort to correct their car's direction.

The driver was identified as a 19-year-old Attleboro man, who died at the scene. His name has not been revealed.

Authorities do not know if the incidents were connected.

The southbound side of the highway was shut down near Exit 1. The right lane of the northbound side was closed near Exit 5.
