Police continue to investigate a double fatal shooting Monday night in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

Officers were called to the intersection of Bolster and Mozart streets at about 10 p.m. where one victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds. That victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another victim was located a short distance away, also suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

The scene took place in between two schools: JFK Elementary School and Nativity Preparatory School.

"I thought there was a gunfight," said Luke Overshiner, who heard the shooting. "It just makes me worried about my son, who's 8, and I'd like to have a safe neighborhood."

"It does not feel like a dangerous neighborhood," said neighbor Jeff McConnell. "From time to time, when these things occur, I think to myself, 'Maybe it's time to move."

Both victims have since been identified as Christian Green, 32, of New Bedford, and Jose M. Martinez, 34, of Boston.

"He was a sweet young man," said Joselina Leon, a cousin of Christian Green.

By Tuesday morning, the area remained a crime scene as investigators continued to search for clues hours before students arrived to class.

"I come to pick them up," said one parent. "A little scary because they go to school right here."

Police continue to investigate a deadly double shooting in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

Hours after students were in class, investigators were called back to the scene when a shell casing was discovered by a tree and a vehicle next to it was scarred with a bullet hole.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said the shooting was not a random act.

"We're asking these adults causing violence in city to stop. Bottom line," he said.

Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said the shooting will not be tolerated.

"Just a month and a half ago, Mayor [Marty] Walsh and many members of city government... we all had a summer safety strategy meeting," said Gross. "We just need everyone to be on the same page. This should not be tolerated."

There have been 20 homicides in the city so far this year, according to Gross. Last year, there were a total of 24.
