2 Store Clerks Fight Back Against Suspect in Brockton Armed Robbery

Shocking video of an attempted armed robbery at Perkins Market in Brockton, Massachusetts over the weekend has employees and customers concerned.

Customer Carrie Sumner said, “That’s unbelievable!”

If you look closely at the video, you can see the female clerk unwilling to open the register even as the suspect hands her a bag and points a gun at her.

Then the suspect runs behind the counter, pointing the weapon at the male cashier’s head, before brutally beating him with it.

Both clerks fight back, grabbing at the gun and eventually wrestling it away from the suspect.

Sumner said, “I think people fighting back is amazing but also they’re taking their lives in their hands, too, which, depending on the person and depending on where they’re at in their head – obviously they’re not in a good place if they’re fighting and having guns and stealing.”

The suspect got the weapon back and fled without getting any money.

The owners of Perkins Market say police told them the weapon was actually a fake, but the female cashier says it looked and felt real.

She was left with minor scrapes and bruises, while the male clerk was bleeding badly and had to get stitches.

Customer Bertrand Nelvy said, “I know this guy very well, he’s a nice guy.”

Customer Bruno Goncalves added, “People work hard every day for you to just come in and disrespect them, just do stuff like that, it’s not right, working real hard, he’s a nice guy, he’s been here forever, that’s crazy!”

The owners say the male clerk is doing well, recovering at home.

A customer did get a license plate number for the suspect, and police are trying to track him down.

This is the third time in less than a year that this market has been targeted by someone trying to rob it.
